Is the police really the protector of the Filipino people or the protector of Arroyo administration ?
In theory, the police is supposed to protect the Filipino people. Policemen shown to do anomalous things for the Arroyo administration actually account for less than 2% of the actual number of policemen in the country. Their number seems to increase more than their actual number due to media exposure. At least 10% more policemen are busy protecting prominent people, stopping traffic dead on their tracks while letting their wards p by (It seems that these policemen are total idiots when it comes to reading traffic lights!). I wonder when ambulances and firetrucks will receive their own police escorts, since these services are more important than mere politicians and rich people with high influence in the government. 10% more policemen (especially officers) are busy trying to deface their airconditioners and make their offices look like an extension of their homes and enriching themselves using taxpayers money. 5% of the policemen in the field enrich themselves through drivers, both with private and public licenses by any illegal means possible. That means 73% of the remaining policemen serve the Filipino people well, as traffic guides, criminal catchers, detectives, and investigators. In short 27% policemen belong to the "rotten bunch" while 73% of the police really protect the Filipino people from crime.
