It makes me so angry!?

I've talked to several people about this, including my pastor. My pastor is disabled, and it took her a long time to get disability. Sometimes you won't get it on the first try. I have a friend who applied for it for 4 years before he got it, and once he did, he got back payments from the first time he filed. Your mother needs to keep refiling and get a new lawyer and judge. It make take several tries, but once she gets it she'll get back payments for it. Many people get turned down the first time. I have a friend with severe arthritis and fibromyalgia, and she has to refile too. And here's another thing, as long as your mother keeps saying that "she's fine", she won't get a dime from these people. She has to go in and show them what she is at her very worst, only then will she have a chance. My friend has that problem too. I told her she has to ditch the "stiff upper lip" thing and SHOW them how much pain she's in. That's the only way it's going to work. I know all about arthritis. I have it too, but not that severe yet, and I have fibromyalgia also. Your mom needs to realize she is NOT ok, and needs help. But she has to be willing to play the game and get what she's entitled to.
